UA multiple award winner, the German Minguet Quartett is one of today's internationally sought-after string quartets.
Regulars at music festivals and major concert halls in important cities across the globe, the Minguet Quartett appeared recently at New York City's Frick Collection, at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, Berlin's Philharmonic, the Muziekgebouw Amsterdam and in Paris, Vienna and Venice. International concert tours brought the Minguet Quartett to Japan, Central and South America, Italy, Finland, Canada and for a the third time to the United States.
Important invitations during the upcoming seasons will be their opening concert in Hamburg for the Elbphilharmonie, performances in Berlin at the Staatsoper and the Konzerthaus, the Muziekgebouw Amsterdam, Beethovenhaus Bonn and in Bayreuth at the Richard Wagner Museum. Festivals will include the Festival d'Automne Paris, Tongyeong International Music Festival in Korea, the Mozart Festival Schwetzingen, Festival JetztMusik in Stuttgart (SWR), the festivals in Usedom and Herrenchiemsee, as well as concerts in Austria, Italy, Poland, the Netherlands, Switzerland and tours in China, Korea and the USA.
As a champion for premiering and performing contemporary works, the Minguet Quartett has received the 2015 Diapason d'or in Paris for Wolfgang Rihm's Et Lux with the Huelgas Ensemble for ECM and in 2010 the coveted ECHO Klassik Award for Peter Ruzicka's complete works for string quartets. Last season, Karlheinz Stockhausen's Helicopter String Quartet performance event at the AUDI Summer Concerts 2015, was the concept of conductor Kent Nagano. Up-coming new projects with Italian and German Composers are planned in cooperation with the European Academy for Music and Art Montepulciano and the Kunststiftung, NRW in Germany. The first complete recordings of Wolfgang Rihm's string quartets, Peter Ruzicka and Joerg Widmann's works, are amongst their most important projects. The later was awarded five stars by FONO FORUM in May 2015.
The Minguet Quartett is equally at home with the music of the Romantic Period, which was showcased with their CD releases of the complete string quartet literature by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, Josef Suk and Heinrich v. Herzogenberg on the cpo label.
Guest artists who have partnered with th Minguet Quartett included Soprano Mojca Erdmann, Baritone Christian Gerhaher, Clarinetists Sharon Kam and Joerg Widmann, Pianists Andrea Lucchesini and Andreas Klein, Violist Gerard Causse and Actor Michael Degen. Under the baton of conductors Jukka-Pekka Saraste, Markus Stenz and Peter Ruzicka, the quartet appeared as soloist with the WDR Symphony Orchestra, Bruckner Orchester Linz and the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra
The Minguet Quartett was founded in 1988 taking its name from 18 Century Spanish Philosopher Pablo Minguet. With his writings he wanted to make the fine arts accessible for the general population - This idea is behind the Minguet Quartett's artistic mission.
