The first complete recordings of Wolfgang Rihm's string quartets, Peter Ruzicka and Joerg Widmann's works, are amongst their most important projects. The later was awarded five stars by FONO FORUM in May 2015.

The Minguet Quartett is equally at home with the music of the Romantic Period,  which was showcased with their CD releases of the complete string quartet literature by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, Josef Suk and Heinrich v. Herzogenberg on the cpo label.

Guest artists who have partnered with th Minguet Quartett included Soprano Mojca Erdmann, Baritone Christian Gerhaher, Clarinetists Sharon Kam and Joerg Widmann, Pianists Andrea Lucchesini and Andreas Klein, Violist Gerard Causse and Actor Michael Degen. Under the baton of conductors Jukka-Pekka Saraste, Markus Stenz and Peter Ruzicka, the quartet appeared as soloist with the WDR Symphony Orchestra, Bruckner Orchester Linz and  the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra

The Minguet Quartett was founded in 1988 taking its name from 18 Century Spanish Philosopher Pablo Minguet. With his writings he wanted to make the fine arts accessible for the general population - This idea is behind the Minguet Quartett's artistic mission.

Press Quotes

"It is a well-matched ensemble, the second violin strong and assertive, all four members playing with focused clarity. The Minguet gave it's all: virtuosity and passion. The hair trigger dynamic contrasts and flawless ensemble interplay showed the group's high technical quality."
Washington Post

"The Minguet Quartet does it all justice, and what's possibly most impressive is how they manage to chart the big architecture"
THE GUARDIAN, London

"It was like a never ending fascination how the Minguet Quartet, with unmistakable intuition, forced words to stand still, how they paused time and thus made music a miracle. I cannot imagine a more illuminating interpretation, a more convincing density in playing these pieces than the one I heard in Salzburg."

Frankfurter Allgemeine

"A world class string quartet from Germany, with an impressive range of CDs to their credit, the Minguets gave an enthralling recital at Conway Hall"
Musical Pointers, London

"The Minguet presented everything that the string music can offer: from velvety sounds to articulate pizzicati to lyrical flowing passages"
Stuttgarter Nachrichten
